Not everyone is blaming President Biden for empty shelves

Twitter users have a lot to say about supply chain issues and Biden’s role in the crisis, with one person joking, “#BareShelvesBiden where’s the beef?” Someone else tellingly commented, “#BareShelvesBiden And if there was anything on the shelf I couldn’t afford to buy it. #lnflationBiden.”
But another Twitter user was quick to point out that photos of bare shelves widely circulated on Twitter were taken at the beginning of the pandemic when Trump was in office. “Weren’t there bare shelves when Trump was president? Just askin,” a supporter said. “Funny, the shelves at my local supermarket are fine,” another Twitter user commented, while someone else said, “This isn’t Biden’s crisis. This is a global crisis.” The debate continued, with more tweets streaming onto the platform taking on both sides of the issue. “This is what happens, when you reply solely on imports to stock your country,” someone else opined, while another critic retorted, “I’m sure his cabinets are not lacking a thing.”

As such, Biden spoke about how he plans to improve upon the current problem by announcing Wednesday the L.A. port would extend its hours, and explaining, “This is the first key step to moving our entire freight transportation and logistical supply chain nationwide to a 24/7 system” (via NPR). He has also put his attention to addressing other supply chain issues by creating a task force according to the outlet.
But these steps have not stopped critics from blasting Biden on Twitter, so much so that the hashtag #EmptyShelvesJoe is trending, as is #BareShelvesBiden.
